Quick answer: Download a Consolidated Account Statement (CAS). It lists every mutual fund folio linked to your PAN across all fund houses. You can get it free from MF Central (log in with PAN + OTP for an instant download), or by email from CAMS or KFintech (choose the combined CAMS + KFintech option). Pick the “Detailed” statement with the period “Since inception” to see every transaction.
Here’s how it usually goes. You started a SIP through a bank in 2017, an ELSS through an office colleague’s app in 2019, and two more funds during the 2021 rally. Now you honestly can’t say how much you hold or where. You’re not alone. Forgotten folios are common enough that SEBI and AMFI run a dedicated unclaimed-amount search.
What is a CAS (Consolidated Account Statement)?
A CAS is a single statement showing all your mutual fund holdings under one PAN, regardless of which app, bank or distributor you invested through. It’s generated by the two registrars that handle almost every Indian fund house:
- CAMS, which serves a large share of AMCs
- KFintech, which serves most of the rest
Each registrar can pull the other’s data, so one request covers everything.
Option 1: MF Central (fastest)
- Go to mfcentral.com and log in with your PAN and the OTP sent to your registered mobile or email.
- Open the statements section and choose Consolidated Account Statement.
- Select Detailed and the period you need.
- Download the PDF directly. There’s no wait for an email.
What goes wrong: the OTP goes to whichever mobile or email is registered with your folios. If that’s an old number, you won’t get it. Update your contact details with the registrar first.
Option 2: CAMS mailback
- On camsonline.com, go to the investor services section and find CAS – CAMS + KFintech under mailback/statements.
- Choose Detailed (with transactions), not Summary.
- Period: Since inception, or a specific financial year for tax.
- Enter your PAN and the email registered with your folios, and set a password for the PDF.
- The statement arrives by email, usually within minutes.
Option 3: KFintech
- On kfintech.com, go to investor services and choose the consolidated account statement.
- Enter your PAN and email, choose Detailed and the period, and submit.
What about funds held in a demat account?
If you bought mutual funds through a stockbroker in demat form, those units sit with NSDL or CDSL, and they appear in the depository’s own CAS (sent monthly to your email if there were transactions). To see everything, check both the registrar CAS (CAMS/KFintech/MF Central) and the depository CAS (NSDL/CDSL).
How to read your CAS in 5 minutes
Section | What to look for |
|---|---|
Folio number + AMC | One line per folio. Several folios at the same AMC can usually be consolidated. |
Scheme name (Direct / Regular) | Shows which plan type you hold. See direct vs regular. |
Units, NAV, market value | What it’s worth today |
Cost value | What you invested |
Transactions (detailed CAS) | Every SIP, redemption and switch. Useful for returns and tax. |
Nominee status | Shows whether nomination is registered. If not, fix it. |
KYC status | Should be KYC OK |
Three things people find in their first CAS
- Forgotten folios. An old SIP that stopped years ago but still has units.
- Duplicate exposure. Four “different” large cap or flexi cap funds holding the same 30 stocks. See How Many Mutual Funds Should You Actually Own?
- Missing nominees. Without a nominee, your family faces a much longer transmission process. Read Mutual Fund Nominee Is Dead: What to Do Now to see what that looks like.
Can’t find an old folio at all?
If you think you have money in a fund that doesn’t appear on your CAS (for example, invested before PAN was mandatory, or with old contact details), check the MITRA search tool for inactive and unclaimed mutual fund folios, available through the registrars and AMFI. Searching by name, date of birth and old addresses often turns them up.
Track everything in one place with RingMoney
A CAS is a snapshot. It’s out of date the day after you download it. In the RingMoney app you can see every fund and every SIP in one view, set goals against them, and get help from an advisor to clean up overlapping funds. Frequently Asked Questions
How can I check all my mutual funds with my PAN?
Download a Consolidated Account Statement from MF Central, CAMS or KFintech using your PAN and registered email or mobile. It covers all fund houses.
Is the CAS statement free?
Yes. CAS from CAMS, KFintech and MF Central is free.
What is the password for the CAS PDF?
With CAMS and KFintech mailback, it’s the password you set when you made the request. Downloads from other sources often use your PAN in capital letters. Check the email instructions.
Does CAS show funds held in my demat account?
Not always. Units held in demat appear in the NSDL/CDSL CAS. Check both to be sure.
How often should I download my CAS?
At least once a year, before filing your ITR. A detailed CAS also shows the capital gains information you need.
